That's a very fair point and it may be that it's been re-barrelled but the important thing for me is that everything which has a serial number matches up (which it does) and that it's not been modified from its original spec. If it really is the original barrel, that's a bonus shakeshout

Well, a numbers matching, original barrel that's not shot out Mk.1 that hasn't been through FTR at some point is a very rare find, and a Matlby made one at that is a super rare find........and very collectible.

The chap selling it has kindly taken the wood off this evening and has onfirmed barrel number is the same as everything else. Happy days. It looked immaculate through the bore. I will report on how it shoots in due course.
