Not the best pic, only got mobile camera......the Cyrillic "L" at the start isn't as deep as the others and it looks like Sergei didn't tap the punch hard enough with the hammer!.

A chap on a US forum sent me a pic of his sons 1944 Izhevsk ex-sniper, same prefix and built 1,399 units later.

And another '44 Izhevsk with same prefix built 1,160 units before mine.....

Started down the slippery slope of accessories, first to arrive is a cleaning kit from a seller from Bulgaria. It is in nice unissued condition and is Izhevsk Arsenal stamped which is a plus :good:

I love that Mosin tool. It’s so elegant and simple that you can take down and reassemble the rifle with just that one small tool. Lovely sniper rifle too. I’m jealous.

Like most Soviet/Russian stuff it is indeed simple but gets the job done.

And thank you, I dropped lucky with this rifle and hopefully it will shoot as good as it looks.......if it doesn't I've got a few tricks up my sleeve ussrflag
