HBSA WW1 Commemorative Demonstration Film

#1 Post by ResearchPress »

Between 2014 and 2018 the Historical Breechloading Smallarms Association (HBSA) set out to collect together and demonstration fire as many of the smallarms used in WW1 as they could arrange. These demonstrations were recorded, and have now been edited into a WW1 Commemorative film. This film can now be viewed on YouTube.

To support this film, the HBSA has compiled on their website a comprehensive Index to the film, with identification and detailed data about each of the 70 individual smallarms demonstrated also available.

The HBSA are very grateful to the numerous members and supporters who loaned and shot their prized historic firearms, to Maurice Kanareck and his colleagues for filming and editing, to the numerous members who helped to compile the data in the Index, to the NRA for all of their help in facilitating these shoots, and to the Home Office and Surrey Police for guidance with legalities.

I will let it slide this once.

Please do a search for the word you used - the W word - and you will realise what I mean.

Great Video.
Sadly only reminds me of everything the shooting community has lost.

I understand where you are coming from Christel and would normally be in total agreement with you but the word was relevant in this instance (Small arms/Weapons used in WW1).

Yeah, it did cross my mind however we need to be consistent when it comes to the public :)

I haven't watched the film but from the Index
39m 20s Steyr 1895 magazine straight-pull carbine 8x56mmR
39m 49s Mannlicher 1895 magazine straight-pull rifle 8×56mmR
During WWI both rifles were chambered in 8x50R it wasn't until the interwar period that both Austria and Hungary switched their rifles (now carbines) to 8x56R.
