Hard to fault a '96, they are always nice to shoot and invariably quite accurate.

Hello
Good luck with the M96 they are a really well put together rifle of excellent quality, and with a superb flat shooting 6.5x55 cartridge.
I own a reproduction M41b sniper variant and it puts everything to shame at my local range.

Nice Tula, with it being a '36 it may be worth removing the stock and having a look at the date stamp on the underside of the rear tang.Despite round receivers being adopted in 1930 for the M91/30 variant round receiver production at Tula didn't start until '36 ('35 at Izhevsk) and it is possible that your hex receiver is actually dated earlier than '36.

Has it got matching serial numbers?.

New gun day is always a good day!! Many traders at Phoenix?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

All visible numbers are matching. Will have a look at rear tang when brave enough to remove the stock

I went today for ammo. Several empty tables some traders only do Saturday & Sunday.

Bob from SGC showing the new lever action carbine to replace the lever release, sadly looked awful but he has to try and fill the gap in his product range.

Sorry to reply on your behalf Ncb2734.

I just tried to add but ran out of time on my original post.

Nice rifles you have, I took a look at the 91/30 as I have just sold a 1925 Tula Hex. This rifle seemed to be in good order and should make a good shooter. goodjob

I have had a couple of 96,s over the years never really got on with the sights until I got one fitted with an aperture sight. Nice rifles and accurate enough. I have had a couple of Mosins as well. I quite fancy another one but unfortunately, my eyes are shot so I don't think I could cope with iron sights anymore.
