Yes, they are some of ours. Not sure how early the 54R stuff goes, probably not that far back.

Can't say I'm bored but this is more fun than work... so here's my submission:

The shell casing is a 105mm (made 1977) that was picked up by my father in law during the Falklands conflict, he was a Navy helicopter pilot and picked up / dropped off some troops at the farm where the artillery was sited that supported the Goose Green assault. He picked up 4 cases, two he cut down like the one you see and the full cases he still has on his fireplace. During the war he was involved in searching for a downed Harrier pilot; because they were the youngest crew in their squadron, their aircraft was used as the decoy for any enemy aircraft. The senior crew on the squadron were in charge of actually searching and rescuing the pilot. I believe they succeeded in locating and picking the Harrier pilot up, though my FiL has a number of radar locks on his helicopter, at one point he had to fly directly towards an enemy jet in order to close the gap, this was basically his only defence against attack!

The other items are my MK2 Bren that sits by my desk. I also have a chest of new magazines and the sustained fire tripod.

Finally, I have a P1903 bayonet, made April 1910, I'm not sure who made it, there's a marking EFD on it but it's faint and I don't think they were a bayonet producer. The blade is in good condition but has been blackened at some point, I understand that originally they should have been in the white.

Everyone needs a Bren by their desk!

Mannlicher clips anyone?

If any of you have an 1885 Mannlicher clip hiding in a cupboard you should dig it out. I sold one three years ago for $300 (not to be confused with a 1886. Different beast).

When I was younger I had a 30mm ADEN cannon round that my brother bought back from the Falklands....it was inert I hasten to add!.

He also bought my a print of a Sea Harrier from HMS Invincible that was signed by all the pilots, Minefield maps of the Falklands and a Royal Marines cold weather cap.The cap I sadly lost in Wales years ago and the other stuff unfortunately disappeared when I got divorced years ago.

Not got the room anymore, which is why the Bren went years ago....

However, I do have two M1928 Thompsons next to my desk though :good:

I handled an M1A1 a few years ago at the Royal Armouries and it was a sizeable thing, weighty too - I liked it though. Everyone always says they're awkward to shoulder but I found it quite ergonomic. In the same session, I held a second pattern FG42, that was years ahead of it's time in concept and construction
