Another rifle from my collection, an unissued Remington built Berthier 1907-15.

This

rifle never made it France and was never given a serial number, the only markings are a 2008 Birmingham proof mark.

The bore is mint, I suspect that it had been proof fired only, I replaced the off-set fore-sight blade with a centralised one as it shot 12" left and 15" high at 100m.

I presume as this rifle never went into french service, it will still be chambered for Balle D ammunition and not updated to Balle N. My Berthier 1907-15 has the N stamp so was updated after WW1. A few years ago I got a few hundred rounds of French military surplus ammunition dated 1948 so I was able to use it in my Berthier. I still have some left. I also got some in Hotchkiss machine gun strips. I have not fired any of that though.
Regards
Peter.

You are quite correct, the rifle is only chambered for Balle D ammunition which is a bit of a pain, as I had to turn down the gift of 50 Balle N rounds!
