Just to be clear, I don't want to put a scope on, its a case of needs must. The rifle in question. A Fazakerley Mk1, it looks like it has had a lot of use but it had a new barrel fitted and spent the best part of 50 years locked in a cabinet. it came with a 1944 dated sling.

Could anyone point me in the direction of the best place to order an S&K SMLE mount from. I can find them on Brownells but wondered if there was anyone else?

Just a thought, you could try out an EyePal shooting aid, they just stick on your shooting glasses.

I use one and found it works well.

I have some in my bag somewhere from a few years ago. I did find them a bit of a faff to be honest, but back then I didn't really need them.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll dig them out and give them another go. :good:

When we can of course. ;)

regards

I have a vortex viper on my No4 Mk1* but I only fit it for 600yds + as the iron sights are great. I have a hawke sidewinder for my 30/06. Both are solid the hawke particularly so.

You could probably pick up a used S&B 6x42 for reasonable money that would look the part, or you could get something like a Red Star Mountain repro No32 scope to go the full hog!
