The 2 Gun stage - shoot some paper targets right and left then hit the distant steels (hopefully before running out of rounds) then dump rifle and pick up pistol before finishing off any papers left and knocking down a plate rack and a distant steel you can't see in the video.

Jeez, I took my sweet time with that, didn't I...??? Also there was a bit of brain fade there. I ran out of ammo with the rifle, and there was a moment of "what do I do now..?" then I remembered and binned the rifle and got into the swing of it with the pistol.

Its strange, i didn't think I hit any distant steels on that stage, but it looks like I did hit one...

What were the rules on steel?
Did you incur penalties for not engaging and misses?

In 3 gun sometimes it's quicker to engage each steel with one shot, even if you miss and then move on, taking the penalty for the miss, but quicker overall time as you weren't "going to war" with the plate.

A missed steel was a 30 second penalty. Failure to engage was 180 seconds (par time). So probably worth taking at least a couple of shots at each but after that I agree it can be better to move on, although 30 seconds is quite a big penalty!

It's a difficult call because quite honestly we should be able to hit 8-10" plates at 200 yds easily, but when you factor in that you've never shot that particular rifle/scope combination before and you haven't sighted it in yourself or been able to test resting it on that bit of corrugated pipe, there's potential for it all going wrong!

What's wrong with 2017?

I'm hoping we can get at least 8 from the UK to make the trip next year, so we'd have a full 'GB' squad to take on the Yanks!

Houses are under-rated IMO... ;)

Well, just to motivate you to pay into the 'WSC Fund', here's the USPSA stage from this year, which I mucked up nicely!
Had the perfect run in my head but when it came to it, I completely forgot about 2 targets and only remembered them as i was about to show clear.
I reckon it cost me about 8 seconds and 2 places overall in the whole competition, but still better than the 30 seconds of penalties I would have got.

We were given a choice of 3 of these rather nice STI 9mm pistols sitting on the table (they were all as good as each other):

and then we used it to shoot this stage:

Here's another video compilation of the various stages we shot over the three days of the competition:
