Weekend in Czech Republic

#1 Post by Dellboy »

Im not a great writer but thought i would recount what a trip to Czech Republic shooting with Czech Tactical Pursuits entailed .

Czech tactical pursuits

http://www.cztacticalpursuits.8u.cz/

Met David at the shooting show early this year straight away liked what he was saying (he isn’t a salesman if that makes sense ).Straight away I phoned a friend and asked if he was interested and the idea was in our minds ,we always fancied the idea but didn’t want the ‘stag do experience’ we wanted to learn .

We finally went out to Brno in Czech Republic last month.
Left Stansted airport on Friday 2nd Sept at 2pm and arrived in Brno at 5pm local time (1hr in front)
David was already there waiting for us and we loaded up the car with our bags and headed off to the place we were staying Sumvald .When we were approx half hour away from the accommodation we stopped at a restaurant for a meal and a long chat about our shooting experiences and what we should expect from the weekend and what could be changed or modified to suit us .We then went to the accommodation which was in a bar/restraunt with rooms ,we had chosen to share a room which was simple clean and tidy with its own toilet and shower facilities .
Breakfast was served at 8am.
Pick up by David and onto the range.
50 yards range (thought on extending to 100) with covered firing point in a wooded area previously used as a gravel pit, well established peaceful and safe.
We covered basic weapon safety with pistols and carbines including, function check, holster weapons, draw from holster, magazine change live, unload stoppage drills, shooting from different positions, move and shoot cover, shooting scenarios room, clearance scenarios.
Different weapons were used to show the development in the guns and the improvements made
And for a bit of fun we had turning plates (for some competitive shooting)
Shot at the range on the Sat and Sunday and for a half day on the Monday leaving the range and going straight to the airport at about 1.30 pm arrived home at Stanstead at about 7.30 pm
GUNS AVAILABLE
Arminus HW 38spl
Taurus titanium 38spl
Pistols:
CZ Vz 61 scorpion
2 x Glock 17
Sig P226
Sig P229
CZ 75B
CZ 75D compact
CZ 75D PCR
Carbines:
4x Uzi (9mm)
Mp5 (9mm)
Ar15 (9mm)
2x AR 15 (223)
2x VZ 858 (7"62x39)
Belt -fed:
VZ 59 UK - 7.62x59

As beginners with very little practical style shooting experience, no centre fire semi or ‘proper’ pistol experience, we learnt a lot as the weekend was tailored for us, had we been more experienced then the weekend would have been stepped up to suit us .
That was the great thing about it, the flexibility
Well we had a great time and have booked for May next year.
We are already discussing what we want to concentrate on.

COSTS
Nearly forgot the important bit the whole lot including flights, transfers, accommodation, food (breakfast ,packed lunch, and an evening meal, with a couple of drinks) travel to the range, range time and all ammunition, cost us £625 that’s it .
This may change due to exchange rates, but we have booked for May next year and paid £30 less for the flights.

:good: Sounds like a fun time was had.

Surely the Vz-59 was chambered in 7.62x54r?....I have seen crates of Czech 54r with "7.62-59" stencilled on them but the "59" referred to the year the ammo was produced.

More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!
