'One off police background check fee
You will be required to pay a one off fee, this is a legal requirement'
Guess it's not just FEOs that 'discover' previously unknown legal requirements!

Re: Rifleman Firearms Range Somerset
I bet this is them charging people extra £20 to sent the notification to the police that a member is registering.
This is part of Home Office club criteria:
the club will inform the police of any application for membership, giving the applicant’s full name and address, date and place of birth,and the date on which they become a full member;
In theory if there are any issues with a member the police should notify the club that the applying member cannot become a member but not be given any reasoning as to why (data protection).
My betting is this is what they're charging an extra £20 for... Yikes.
Wonder if they charge you when you cease membership, or do not visit (the club will inform the police of any member, other than a guest member, who has not shot with the club for a period of 12 months)...
