New member from West Midlands

#1 Post by rakirun »

Hi everyone

Just a bit about me. I started shooting when I was about 10, my dad was in the TA at the time and he used to take me to the range. I got to shoot Browning Hi Power pistols, Sterling SMG's and SLR's. I also shot a fair bit when I was in the cadets. After that I spent years not shooting apart from the odd airgun until the last few years when I've been shooting handguns abroad. Lately I decided it was about time I started shooting seriously and I have just joined my local club as a probationary member. Hopefully I will become a full member and can apply for my FAC and SGC.
My main shooting interests are Practical Shooting and Target Shooting although I would like to try out clays.
I hope that I can get some good advice here as well as joining in with the fun.
I can't think of anything else to say so I look forward to contributing to the forum.

Welcome Aboard!

How long ago was it when your dad took you to shoot with the TA? I can remember being allowed to shoot on the local TA units indoor .22 range at 14 years of age but I had to wait (2 years) until I joined the regs to get hold of the other stuff you mentioned.

It's been nearly 40 years. (I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to be there, unfortunately he is no longer with us so I can't ask him)
