Will you take the shilling?

This is a take on the old ATSC "Classic" match which was active between 1995~2003, the targets are those used by the School of Musketry before 1910.

Range stew or curry for lunch, what's not to like!

I'm ready to go over the top.
Just waiting for the barrage to stop softening ol' Jerry up.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

Come on yuou lot, this should be a giggle. They are digging trenches on Century and filling them with crap for the CSR season anyway, and outrageous German accents will be expected in the butts.... There are also the odd mine filled with Amatol just to liven things up a bit.

Oh no....I mentioned the B word.... The butts on these sort of shoots are usually a good laugh as it goes and not too strenuous, some of the best laughs occur in the butts and good marking makes a shoot or breaks it.

The vickers should wake the neighbours up as well. clapclap

Its only 200 yards so even with a borrowed SMLE we all have a chance of a decent shoot, poor old Tommy Atkins never had any sighters either:cry:

Come on, dust off (or borrow) them SOWRs and have a laugh with other "like minded individuals quietly enjoying their shooting".....Quietly my arse  Might even wrap the BAR10 in hessian and call it a BARSMLE wtf

And, its to celebrate/commemorate 100 years of Armistice, the end of an orrible pointless war between cousins egos. None of us will see the Bicentenary, even if it gets celebrated lollol

Does this competition involve climbing out of our trench and walking very slowly towards the enemy?
Always judge a person by how they treat someone that is of no use to them......

Is it strictly SMLE or could I use my P14?

In the spirit of the match I would think SMLE only but if it is a design of 100yrs ago and used in the Great War then it may be allowed in the 'foreign service rifle' class (or whatever it is called).

SMLEs and ammo are available for hire from the NRA or possibly borrowed on the point if you can find a suitably equiped friend.

ETA: There's one in the For Sale section.

Only 24 places left.

P14's are allowed under "Foreign Muck".
I would like to thank Mark Bradley for that terminology! lol

Those of you thinking about using a Mauser should be reminded you may end up as POW, or worse still made to clean the toilets at the 300 yard carpark. :o

My P14 has taken umbrage and will not participate - just because she was built in the US, her parentage is undoubtedly British 303/European and little Mauser action makes her no more German than the Queen :-)

I might rent a smelly though...
