I had a shocker that weekend. On Saturday I noticed one of my colt 73s not locking up properly. Found the lock pin not rising fully. Replaced the spring with a new spare someone had. No time lost as found it loading the cylinder into the gun.
Then had a moment on another stage where I had the lever blow open on my Winchester 73, don't know how or why, but the closed action safety is in place and working, whether it stuck or what I don't know. Then the next day I had the same revolver as the day before skip over a chamber, so wasted a few secs trying to find the loaded one. So gave it a wipe over when reloading. Then next stage I had 3 chambers not go off or skip, wasn't sure if I got oil contamination, so that was 3 misses. Before reloading I checked it over again, the new spring had also cracked, gunsmith didn't have any so had to steal one out of his spare gun. Then was flawless rest of the day

That looks like fun - I currently shoot at a range where they would have a fit if they saw that. They debate if it's safe to use a metal clip to hold the targets up or should we use wooden pegs.

thanks guys. it is great fun. yes you have to dress up, but there are levels of dressing up. I wear modern jeans, belt and shoes, then go for a more period looking shirt and waistcoat. and of course you have to have your hat!

some guys just go a bit tombstone and just wear a suit.

I love it. 5 mins of loading for 30 secs of fun!

here are the results of that weekend.

If anyone is interested, we meet at northcotes butts in lincs, every 3rd weekend of the month. all are welcome. happy to answer any questions, there is also a Facebook group if you prefer.
