Hi I am going to a 25 metre barrack range this weekend and will be using 17hmr and 223.
How high/low will each calibre be for 100 metres if crosshairs are on the centre at 25 metres?
Zeroing on a 25 metre barrack range for 100 metre zero.

Biggest factor will probably be scope height above boreline. Decent ballistic calculators take this into account. Stick your data in and get your answer.shotgun sam wrote:Hi I am going to a 25 metre barrack range this weekend and will be using 17hmr and 223.

A generic 55gn at 3200, 2” scope height, zero’d at 25 will put you 4.5” high at 100yds, according to BulletDrop
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

As a rule of thumb, with 5.56 a 25yd zero is a good approximation to a 300yd zero.
When we zeroed the M16A2 it was done at 25yds and the sights were set at 300+1click, that was with 62gn FMJ at about 3100fps, but also seems to work well with scoped rifles shooting 69 and 77gn bullets at more modest speeds.

Download the Strelok app. I think the basic one is free from memory. There is a "Pro" version which costs money but the basic one will do what you want it to. Very simple to use.
