You can always walk them in by appointment which speeds things up, however our customers usually ask for a London mark (No idea why!) And there is no way I am driving to London as it is a day out of my life.

I'm guessing it will just be a case of waiting then.

know the feeling, drive all way across country, then across central London, park up n sit patiently outside for a few hours.. LOL

great place though and love being nosey

not sure if they doing same day at moment, think they were stopping them for a bit as they so busy, but I was told that 2nd hand a couple month back

last lot of guns took 9 weeks on instant proof

got more to go soon, wont hold breath hahaha
just as I thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel.......... I realised it was just my boss with more work and a torch.

well, in the grand scheme of things 8 weeks is not that long.

Does anyone know what the actual process is for proofing? what gets done? how long per gun?

From memory it is as follows:

Visually inspect and headspace firearm.
Stuff the firearm in a vice in a secure room, attach a lanyard to the trigger, load a proof round, retire outside and yank the string.
Load a second proof round that may be oiled and repeat.
Remove, visually inspect and headspace again
Stamp or engrave as required.

10 minutes ish.

the place is a cross between an Aladins cave and a tardis LOL

need to bear in mind there 100's and hundreds of guns, 1 or 2 guys working

lot of them will need unpacking from transit packaging, then repacking once they are tested

it all soon stacks up

Are they able to proof guns the same day? Assuming it costs more?

Yep, had 4 proofed in 2.5 hours last week. Just enough time for a bacon roll and coffee. From booking to the appointment was 3 weeks. I think they do 2 days / week for "same day" service.
