Re: New Range Needs Support.
I’d love to support a new range but I don’t live in the area, know the village and have not taken the time to understand the proposals in full.
Is it appropriate for people to comment on a planning applications that will not affect them?
Surely this is a matter for the people who will be affected by the proposed range. I see no information on this thread making a case for the range or addressing any of the concerns of the campaign against the range.
Don’t want to be a GOM here but do we blindly support all range applications no matter the situation?
If the answer to that is no then everyone should take the time to understand the situation before wading in.
We’re not a lobbying organisation.
Perhaps some more information about the location, the area, distance from houses, proposal etc would get more supporting comments?
Just my humble $.02

Re: New Range Needs Support.
It's in a village on the outskirts of Luton. Just of the A6. It is highly unlikely to affect anyone. Even the whole arguement of traffic is ridiculous. It's not a new supermarket. Same as the earthworks. They aren't going to see it. I no longer live in the area but I have supported it. But because my address is no where near I don't get recorded as a neighbour . But my dad who does live nearby got recorded as one. So no harm supporting it if you live far away

The plans are available on the council website if you wish to look at them. You can compare it to Google maps to see how close it is to Streatley. It is to the west of the A6 as you head north out of Luton, i think just before the speed camera but I am not 100% sure on that bit.
I suspect that the range will have sufficient earth banks and trees etc to mean no noise getting to the nearest housing. The roar of traffic noise from the A6 is probably louder for them.
I have supported and got a few friends to do so as well, we hope use it if it is built.
Currently at 126 for and 97 against.

Streatley should count itself lucky it could be getting a shooting range.
Around where I live all we can look forward to is our towns being swallowed up by 'affordable (but not really) housing as developers fill their boots bulldozing farmland, flood plains, and surrounding countryside for their cramped little boxes.
