Reassessment of TVP

Until a few weeks ago I have been lucky enough to have a pretty decent service from TVP....

New slot variation last Summer - turned around and new ticket received in exactly 2 weeks
Coterminus renewal end of 2018 for March renewal - turned around in 2 months, this included the Christmas Holiday period.

Straightforward 1 for 1 variation.....

Received by confirmation of Recorded Delivery - 1 working day under a month as of today.
No Text - but then I only had one concerning my renewals
After 2 weeks - called to discover from someone there that "both" (not sure if there are only 2 positioned in the office) FLO's on leave at the same time for a week ! At same point requested return of Original FAC so that I could purchase ammunition - received 2 days later
3 1/2 week point called again - confirmed it had been received and couldnt say anything else. Asked why no text confirming receipt (their newish process) - couldnt say. Requested a call back - nothing.
Same day called FEO to see if he had received anything from Office - No, but as it was a 1 for 1 he expected it to be processed in Office. He would check and call back.
Following morning first thing - FEO called and advised he could see nothing on the system apart from my logged call the previous day and that it was received as per recorded delivery confirmation.

I have been blindly hoping that my call last week may have spurred someone into action - but as of today clearly not. Replacement rifle is ready for collection and I am naturally keen to pick it up.

I am fully aware of the nuances that every force has with timeframes for grants, renewals and variations - but so far my experiences with TVP have always been very good - in fact surprisingly efficient. Note - I cannot fault my FEO who is brilliant.

Since the "Biblical Flood" at their office a few years ago, they have implemented the system of discounted early renewals. This clearly appears to be the focus presently - in fact so much so, that a Club coleague took them up on it, had his renewal done then 2 weks later was invited to renew again ! If they are that keen on statistics and hitting targets surely grants and variations should come to the top of the list and not early renewals.

I am really not happy at all. For a Public Service they need to up their game significantly. If I ran my business like that it would fail in no time. You can only call them for 2 hours a day except Friday when it is 1 hour and they do, as I have discovered, close the telephone lines early.

I am applying for a lever Action Rifle - given the calibre of one person I spoke with who advised, maybe contrary to regs that both FLO's were on leave, I would not be surprised that someone might have interpreted it as Lever Release..... straight to the bottom of the pile !

Finally - was told that they are moving offices shortly - so that wil mean at least another week at least of delays to the entire system whilst desk decorations, staplers and pen holders are all packed safely away and then unpacked at the new location and nearest coffee machine is located........

Not sure if any Forces monitor this Forum but if they do - please take note as the above example has very much tainted my otherwise very positive experiences of TVP

That explains the silence as regards my variation then.

I've heard that they are moving offices as well, no idea where they are going to, but hopefully if most of the records are now on a computer not being moved, they should be back to speed swiftly.

I emailed TVP in April to request a change of nominated HO club.

A new FAC arrived a week later with a request to shred the old one.

I suspect the trouble you're having is related to their department moving.

if its the early renewals causing the delay I would be surprised as I put mine in back in March and have yet to hear from my FEO

Oh hell........ 8-)

I'll be moving house soon and will be transferring to TVP from the Met.... was hoping they'd got sorted out their many issues by now, and not expecting them to be self generating new ones :squirrel:

How will they know its a lever action?

Surely application is for a rifle of 'xx' calibre, and thats it, there being no mention of the action?

My FAC lists the actions. I have a bolt action .223 and a straight pull .223.
