A jacket like that has straps that can be loosened or tightened according to how the shooter prefers it.

It helps on posture - Bell Target shooters are standing and we need all the stability we can get - hence the jacket.

Personally I do not see the point in a jacket like that, nor the blind he is wearing, one can also be attached to the rifle.

Some wear gloves for better grip.

I guess whatever makes you feel and shoot better :p

Not that well versed with the different rifles however I think this is not recoilless as mine is...which some Bell Target leagues do not approve of.

Pretty sure you only have a bead and not an aperture?

I've heard of target shooting jackets but for the life of me cant work out how this could be advantageous.

It looks like a Gehmann jacket, NSRA shop sells them

Interesting that you can wear shooting jackets and gloves in Bell Target and without rifle weight limit (As far as I am aware) Yet LSR prohibits such jackets and gloves contribute to the all up weight of the rifle weight limit.

Totally not in the spirit of the bell target game.

If you must have a jacket then look no further that a proper donkey jacket, I shot small bore prone for years with one, stitched a large button onto the shoulder to keep the sling in place and it worked just fine. Had NCB stamped on it as I recall.

There are purpose made off hand shooting jackets that use the stiffness of the design and material to help support the upper body that holds the rifle, bit too serious for my taste though.
