I'd have loved this for the collection if it was Sec1.

You’d like to think that it only becomes deactivated when it is no longer a viable shooter, however, that’s not how business works....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I know mate, it's just a shame......if it was a run-of-the-mill refurbed 91/30 I could understand it a bit more but this particular rifle would have been very nice as it is a NEW that hasnt been refurbed by the looks of it, isn't Finnish-captured and is pretty much original.

Worry not comrade.

As Finnish as a very Finnish thing. Woodwork is the first giveaway. Then the sling hangers. Nothing on it will match other than the bolt and barrel and even then the bolt will be force matched.

So it is Tovarisch, I've just looked again and can see the two piece stock and sling hanger now, I averted my eyes too soon to notice earlier.Feel a bit better now.......

Now if it was a Mosin that hadn't been captured by the Finns it would indeed be rare...

The problem is that the Finns were buying from or playing swapsies for Mosins with everyone who ever went toe to toe with the Ruskies. I have a couple of M91 rifles that never saw Finland but did spend time with the Austro Hungarians.

Anyone fancy a Mosin range day?

A Mosin range day......sounds good to me, make it a Russian range day and I'll bring the Dragunov as well :good:

I'd love a M91 in the cabinet, there is a nice looking Finnish-captured 1923 Tula on Highwoods site at the moment.....

Blighty......would I be right in thinking that when Finland got it's independence in 1917 and inherited the arsenal in Helsinki it would have been filled with Mosins?.

Filled with Mosins, Winchester M95 muskets etc. I’m sure I read somewhere that they had been supplied with a lot of Mausers by Germany towards the end which they swapped for Mosins.
