Received this this morning from LERA (Lee Enfield Rifle Association) and without doubt one we all need to respond to to register our own opinions in the survey. Most important is that we get both our shooting and non shooting friends to complete the survey if they are supportive of private firearm ownership.
Without doubt our position has been hurt by the criminal use of a shotgun, by a person who the police failed to control even after receiving warnings from concerned parties who were aware of his ownership of a shotgun. However the PCC will make every effort to move the responsibility for failure to the large number of active, law abiding users of both shotguns and firearms..
Would hope that our national body the NRA are taking up the fight on our behalf and we as people who enjoy our sport complete the survey and write to our MP;s expressing our concern with the focus of the PCC to engineer blame and attack the shooter, rather than holding the Chief Constable to account for his failure.

Pretty much the same could be said to apply to Hungerford and Dunblane ...gsksay wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 4:12 pm Without doubt our position has been hurt by the criminal use of a shotgun, by a person who the police failed to control even after receiving warnings from concerned parties who were aware of his ownership of a shotgun. Re: Firearms Licensing Survey
The BASC responce is a bit of a joke .
This Association has run two surveys in the past , one about dog theft and the other about road safety . In both cases the survey ran for longer than the firearms survey .
You also have to wonder who gives this tinpot association the right to use public funds to run surveys .
The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners is also a Limited Company ,https://find-and-update.company-informa ... y/05214716

Unfortunately we did when we voted in these Police and Crime Commissioners. We gave them almost a blank cheque to squander public money intended for actual policing.MistAgain wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 12:20 pm The BASC responce is a bit of a joke .

Locally the first PCC that covered our area was not connected to any political party and he did a good job including re-opening police stations and sacking the Chief Constable whose policies he disagreed with. He had no wish to stand again and his successor is a puppet of one of the main stream political parties who no doubt put his name to this unnecessary and irrelevant loaded "consultation".
