Northumbria have just done a variation for me, ten days from the time I put the letter in the post to it arriving through my door..
My RFD was done in late August, for a mid September renewal date.
Papers and cheque sent in a timely manner and no time related dramas from the certification section. Dealt with in the usual professional and helpful manner..

I did hear a rumour that moderators might end up being removed from tickets altogether, partly for the reasons stated already in the thread. Anyone else heard similar?

Well this is still dragging on.
Emailed them again yesterday as following the first cock-up (no empty slot listed) it's been back with them for 26 days.
I askked why a simple 1 for 1 variation (replacing a transferred rifle with one the same calibre) was taking so long.
I got a reply back 10mins later, which is amazing for Durham!, apprently it's with the "decision makers" and I should get it back within 2 weeks (assuming it goes through).
I have no idea why when the first (incorrect) variation only took 1 week to be completed the re-processing of exactly the same previously approved variation is now taking 4 to 6 weeks to do exactly the same thing :(

They are implementing Durham's "p*** them off" policy.
They have targets to meet you know. Less Fac's held, less firearms held and less FAC's issued.
