At 54 I'd put myself at slightly older than the average for my club. There are few youngsters who stick it out to become regular shooters, with a friend with whom I go rabbiting & rough shooting among the youngest serious shooters I know & he's 24.
We need a LOT more youth involvement in ALL aspects of shooting, fishing & field sports if their gradual demise is to be halted.

Interesting to see what age people started shooting at.

Then compare that with current age.

Brought up with guns and shooting but had my own from age 8. I'm now 56 and have owned guns and shot all my life, FAC holder since I was 17.

At 32 i'm the youngest at my shotgun club and in the lower 5-10% of the 2 rifle clubs where i'm a member although there does seem to be a small wave of younger shooters at my indoor club coming through. :good: I started shooting at 11 (air rifle and clays), but didn't get my own FAC until 2006, after getting dissillusioned with firearms following the pistol ban

Our club are probably at the 60+ majority. We do have a few in the 16 to 25 bracket.

Started age 6 with a Mibro Diana no1---just powerful enough to penetrate one side of a match box, so you could collect and re-use the slugs. Now 70.
