Fantastic old photo.I love seeing things like this from WW2 as im a bit of a history nerd.

I have a wooden model carved from wood of a Lancaster flying over a church which a German POW did for my dad in 1946 when he was a kid.He swopped a packet of ciggies for it and i'll keep it forever. The POW by the way was working at a nearby farm as they did back then.

Dad, who died in '68 used to tell me stories about watching fish coming at them and manouvering like crazy and then depth charging...he said you knew if you hit them by the black colour of the water shooting up.

When sinking ships, sometimes they took no survivors.

Strange...he always welled up saying that and he hated the enemy.
