The date on the link is 2015.

Isn't George "Johnny" Johnson still alive?

RIP Les regardless of when you passed, without people like hi who knows where we would be now.

I have also fallen into the trap of reading old news and believing it to be current and I have seen a few recent articles on well known personalities who have apparently died, only to discover they are advertising or spam links when clicked on.

When Les passed away, he was the last of the Dams Raid pilots.

As pointed out, there are still two Dams Raid aircrew left, George 'Johnny' Johnson, who was Joe McCarthy's front gunner in the second wave that dropped their bomb on the Sorpe, without any success and fellow front gunner, Canadian Fred Sutherland who was in Les Knights crew in the first wave, and which was the crew that dropped the last available Upkeep at the Eder Dam, breaching it.
