Going on a £10 note O:-)
Certainly something I'd support. Turing was someone who could have been involved in the founding of a British computer industry that might have rivalled the Americans, or possibly done other work which has not yet been done by anyone else. He was a genius. Putting him on the ten pound note would be a small step to acknowledge that the establishment of the day failed to reward him for the true value of his work, and treated him somewhat badly.

It is true that some aspects of his behaviour would have been unacceptable today, but it would also be probable that he would be diagnosed as having Aspergers, and help provided to enable him to cope more easily with the problems that brings. My son has Aspergers, and is interested in codes too, so Turing is something of a hero for him.

Bletchley Park is well worth visiting, last time I went Colossus was operating, and seeing it running was quite impressive. My phone probably has more computational power, but was very much easier to build.
Careful now/that sort of thing

A scientific notebook compiled by World War Two codebreaker Alan Turing has sold for $1m in New York.

Pity the money raised will be unlikely to go towards saving the Post Office

Happy is he, who goes out for the amusement of himself, and not for the amazement of others
