Post-apocalypse transport.

If we entered a time of Civil Unrest/Armageddon/Zombie Attacking, what would we do?

There is a lot to be said for a horse, they can carry a reasonable payload, cross broken ground, fuel should be readily available and you can always eat them if things get tough.

You cannot beat a Garron or any good Highland pony.

The level of intelligence some ponies can show is unnerving.

We had Icelandic ponies at the bottom of the garden in DK and they would happily munch on an apple if offered. I headed down to them one afternoon with a handful of freshly windfalls and held them out in a flat hand and they were gratefully accepted by all but one that seemed to keep just out of arms reach, in fact it seemed like he was moving back as I leant over which struck me as odd right up until the point that I got a bloody great big belt from the electric fence, I dropped the apple and the pony happily took it and watched me thoughtfully as it munched away.

Bastid thing.

Ponies aren't affected by Zombies as they don't believe in them.

It won't have to get bit to turn against you, that ridiculously high centre of gravity due to the engine mounting will see to that. Pig on stilts comes to mind.

Think back to season one of The Walking Dead when Rick was on a horse in the Middle of Dallas, horse got taken down by zombies and devoured. Then just a week ago, Season 5 episode 13, Horse gets pulled down by just a half dozen zombies and they started devouring it. Now that's the slow zombies doing that to horses, what the heck will it be like it if the zombies are like the ones in World War Z that were very fast.
