Portable water purification

If we entered a time of Civil Unrest/Armageddon/Zombie Attacking, what would we do?

I used one for 10 days in Vietnam. Either German or Swiss (?), it was small, light and the quality of my stools was outstanding :good:

Russian NF-10 "Ratnik" purification kits are good are pretty cheap, quite a few sellers on Ebay. These are more than up to the job as they are designed for use in NBC environments.I used one whilst I spent a few days camping in India a few years back and had no problems.

Katadyn is THE name in portable filters but they have much cheaper versions with different types of filters such as the Hiker model which will get all the nastiness out but has a smaller capacity than the 'Pocket'.

Sawyer makes even cheaper filters which are rated amongst outdoor communities. This one is <£17

Yeah looking at the Katadyn range, just need to choose the correct one for my needs.

We had one issued that was like a black plastic cylinder that screwed atop our water canteen. It not only cleaned bugs and other microbes out of the water but also other contaminants such as oils, chemicals and, according to the instructions, radio-active nucleides. We used it for several weeks in somewhere unpleasant, filtering all our water through it, and it seemed to work. The water had a slight metallic taste to it but nothing we couldn't tolerate and it was a much better option than drinking untreated water. It was good for 250 litres afore it needed replacing.

What a posh badger! All I got issued with was a small canvas water purifying sack and a pack of puritabs.

I've got an MsR filter. Ceramic filter, pump style action. Screws onto a Nalgeme 1l bottle.
Been used all over UK, quite fancy the sawyer though, much lighter.
Yes, I work for Lantac.
