A good starting point for all shooters.

Just replace the Semi Auto recommendations with Bolt Action rifles of your choice.

I like the matter-of-fact writing style. I've seen it before in the dim and distant past but always worth another read, excellent.

This is really most excellent!

Can anyone clarify for a Newb how the pumpkin on the post or aiming at 6 o'clock works. I can understand clearly the concept of not obscuring your target with the fore-sight, I am just not clear on how you would 'tell' your sights how to make the appropriate vertical adjustment to COM at a given distance.

If you assume I know nothing, and use very short words, your answer will probably hit the mark!

Another point that I noticed was that with a bolt action, you necessarily have to disturb things to chamber the next round...

You'll disturb very little with a bolt action using the correct technique...

As a total noob to rifle shooting I enjoyed that read, simple and to the point

Very good stuff.
The one thing I struggle to get across to people is the importance of the natural point of aim. Even on a ten spot target at 25 yards you need to physically move for each diagram. This book explains that very well.

This was an excellent read, wish I had read this sooner! I've been doing some reading recently on shooting with rifle slings but this article surpasses the one I had read.
