Good luck. This was my first grant just to give you an idea:

2 x .22 (1,200 rounds)
1 x .223/5.56 (300 rounds)
2 x .308/7.62x51 NATO (600 rounds)
1 x .303 (300 rounds)

Remember for most licensing authorities, just because you have .308 on your ticket, it doesn't entitle you to 7.62x51 NATO unless your ticket explicitly states that caliber, so list both under the same slot. The same applies to your .223 slot, have it added as .223/5.56. I appreciate a few authorities see this slightly differently, but most don't.

'Er Maj's Law only requires you to state calibre, oomans, not chamber. Hence 7.62 permits NATO / Russian and Soviet rounds (7.62 x51, 7.62x54R, 7.62x39) To be safe, state 7.62 / .308

Under Northamptonshire licensing, if you apply for .308/7.62 it doesn't authorise you to buy a rifle chambered in 7.62x54R or 7.62x39, only 7.62x51, as that's the metric equivalent to .308.

Same with Durham when i initially applied, just wanted 7.62 rifle on the FAC as i hadn't decided between a .308, Draganov or AK variant. They wouldn't have it so ended off having to ask for .308Win/7.62x51mm. And that was before Durham went downhill!!

Can't see any issue with adding the .303, when you're already asking for a .308

And will continue to do so until the people they're paid to serve tell them how to do it right, by following the law and guidance ;-)

Latest guidance says that a wide choice.of.cartridges or just a calibre choice should not be allowed.

You might want to ask for 4 moderators as well, they don't seem too bothered about them. They generally improve accuracy, so it's easy to justify.
My FEO advised me to put moderators on, with all the Health & Safety stuff
he said it would be a good idea for target shooting as it keeps the noise down
on the firing point.

Same happened to me when I got my first Scottish FAC.
I'd not listed moderators, (other than .22), but the FEO had me add them when he came out to see me.

This was my first FAC circa 2012

.22LR + moderator x 3 (logic being - 1No each of tactical, semi auto rifle style and bolt action)
223/5.56 bolt action
.38 / .357 under-lever
9mm long barrelled pistol (I did ask for this to be push release lever)
Shotgun - section 1

During the visit it was discussed that I had also asked for a 7.62/3.08 which was a little too much for a first FAC and I had to lose one - I chose to lose the 7.60/.308. It was also asked if I want black powder: I didn't but wish I had to get the 'spare slot'.

What you end up buying may well be very different to the first application: mine is different now have listed / own:

.22LR x2 + 1No moderator (have Ruger 10/22 and Sako Quad)
.22WMR barrel for Sako Quad
.223/5.56 (have Styer Aug)+ .223/5.56 moderator
.38/.375 (have Marlin underlever)
Section 1 shotgun (Fabarm 10+1)
.308/7.62 (not bought yet)
Centre fire moderator
.303 (not bought yet and may change for something else)
Regards,

Geek
