First fullbore shoot - what to expect?

Glad you enjoyed it and are going to join. It's a really nice range and a very good club. It's not the best place to learn about wind-reading (far too sheltered in that deep valley), but once you get a rifle and your safety certification you can shoot with the club on the Mod ranges at Strensall just to the north of York at 300 / 500 / 600. Another very nice range if the weather is good, but as different from Pickering as chalk from cheese being in the flat and open Vale of York and often pretty windy.

Thanks again. I definitely see your point about accounting for wind, it's basically not required there! It was pleasing to see the club calendar packed with a variety of competitions and visits to Strensall.

It was a particularly strong turnout yesterday apparently - we didn't get out of there until near enough 4pm from a 9:30 start. Got talking to some interesting folks and had a good chat with Don, David and Howard. Such a variety of rifles on display, very very interesting :)

Good to hear you enjoyed it and signed up with the club. Visiting or joining a new club can be quite a daunting task for newcomers and although we all seem OK to ourselves we may portray a very different image to newbies.

We are going to have to go through the whole joining thing ourselves very shortly.
