Shooting in Liverpool?

#1 Post by SuddenlyMinotaurs »

Hey all! I'm not totally new, now (having been shooting regularly for a few months). However, one of my mates in a little rainy northern village we call "Liverpool", has been listening to my stories of shooting eagerly, and has decided he'd like to give it a try.

He's already into his archery and fencing, and (beyond the simple fun of shooting) the historical angle rather appeals to him. However, he is very new to guns, and will need patient coaching, so I think anything with a big focus on smallbore and pistol calibre carbines would be ideal.

So, my question is - what would be the best club for a newbie Scouser, looking to give the sport a go? He lives near Bootle, IIRC, and so the Aintree Pistol Club is definitely conveniently close, but any suggestions are very welcome!

i've been to the Aintree pistol club (which isn't in Aintree, Unlike fullwood, which I think is) a few times now, and find the members (some of whom are committee members) to be wonderfully friendly, polite folk. the range is quite well set up, and if I lived nearby, I would definitely be joining. Its a range owned by the club, for the club.

Hmm, why did we expect this to be a thread about Post Offices or crack dealers?

I've visited Fulwood shooting club, plenty of lanes to shoot on and seemed alright! The members I met were friendly enough too.

I shoot at both clubs.... Aintree has two main ranges of roughly 22 -25m and a spacious upstairs area where members can shoot archery, clay pigeon and cowboy action. Fullwood has longer ranges available where you can shoot centerfires up to 50m. I have been a member of Aintree Pistol since around 2003. I shoot at Fullwood with another club (a club within a club if you will). Both are good friendly clubs.
