Depends on the issuing force regarding ammo, I can't get more than 500RF for an initial and 250 per centrefire calibre, so I applied for that initially but will be asking for 1000 once I've filled my ticket in as I will be getting 2x .22LR

My advice would be to apply for more than you think you will need then they can knock you down a bit. If you later on decide you actually do need more then you need to go through all the performance of submitting a variation.

I only shoot targets. My allowance is:

125 - 12g slug
500 - .45-70
600 - .308
1000 - .38/357
2000 - .22 RF

On my initial grant i asked for 1000 .22 but they only let me have 500.

Bizarrely though I can also have 500 each of .303, 7.62 and .357 which are far more dangerous rounds if you felt so inclined...
