Noob question on moderators

#1 Post by S1M »

Hi just looking to purchase a moderator for my .22lr rifle I have a slot for it on my FAC but I never asked my FEO if I need to inform them if I purchased a moderator.
So I guess my question is I have to inform them of a gun purchase is it the same for a moderator?
Sorry if it's a stupid question or has already been asked

Thanks

If you have the correct permissions on your FAC then yes, you can purchase a moderator. You simply need to inform your FEO when you have done so, very much like the purchase of a firearm.

*Check the moderater has been proofed before you buy it. Twice now I've seen a common make for the .22 with no proof marks. Probably not a big deal but better to have all the same.

No need for Proof marks on moderators.

I wonder why some do then & some don't? And I'm talking about the exact same make/model. The store that noticed the unproofed moderator wouldn't sell it to me. They just opened another box and found one that was proof marked.

A-Tec Wave, a couple of quid more than a SAK, the cheapest mod, but the Wave is quieter IMO.

SAK rings a bell, it's what I bought. Using Subs it's no louder than springer air rifle. It's always odd hearing the action rather than the actual round!
