How far do you travel to your shooting range?

#1 Post by Garbear »

Hello everyone, I'm based in Liverpool and I have a SGC as I enjoy clay pigeon shooting.

I now want to start full bore target shooting and, well maybe I'm doing it wrong but finding a range that is in the North West, shoots 5.56 or .308, and is accepting memberships seems quite difficult.

I've visited Phoenix Range in Barnsley and I really enjoyed it, the club seems ideal except for its 1h30 away in each direction. Is it normal to travel so far or do I need to be more thorough in my search for a closer club?

20-25minutes each way for my small bore club, 75-120min (45-50min on way home when there is no traffic) to the full bore club.

10 minutes to my indoor range. 20 minutes to the outdoor range.
One hour plus to MOD rages. 6 hours to Bisley plus over night stay. No chance.
