Re: Ridiculous GP Charge

The whole responsibility thing is a red herring as far as i'm concerned or more likely just a means to the overall end to reduce the number of people take up/continuing shooting. Can someone please list the names of ANY official involved in firearms licensing that has been held accountable for cocking up and as a result people being killed with legally owned firearms??
- Although less clear, there were some warning signs that filtered back to the police about Michael Ryan - any fallout to TPTB?
- Numerous warnings from other members of the public and Hamilton himself that he wasn't stable enough to own firearms - Anyone held responsible other than him and all other handgun shooters?
- Derrick Bird - the UK's first unannounced/not on radar mass shooter, no case to answer.
- Michael Atherton - 4 charges of domestic abuse, obvious signs of alcohol abuse, guns removed from him and then later returned, goes on to kill 4 people and guess what, no case to answer for the licensing team/manager or police force in general even though they were ripped to shreds in the inquiry that followed!
The idea that a doctor who signs a form to say 'this person at this time does not have a condition that would make them a greater risk than anyone else from being in possession of a gun' will face anything other than a little bit of finger pointing from the gutter rags is laughable. The BMA have repeatedly said that no GP could predict what will happen the second someone sets foot out of the surgery and even a clinical psychologist would struggle from a single/sporadic meetings that the average shooter demographic displays at their GP.
