Somerset FAC applications
I have just applied to Avon and Somerset for the Grant of my first FAC. The rumour is it might take 8 months so I wondered if anyone here has had a recent experience? Cheers.

I fall under Avon & Somerset and although I can’t remember how long it took it definitely wasn’t 8 months! I doubt you’ll wait that long.

Re: Somerset FAC applications
I applied for my SGC on 22 Sept with A&S Police. Had my visit, phone calls to my referee. I was initially informed it would be 14 weeks which made it just before New Year, but during the visit they said there ws a backlog so would be end of Jan early Feb. So having to wait for cert to come through.
While I have 2 guns sat at the local shooting club that I can't bring home. But I can go and shoot there as long as I have a SGC holder with me

Re: Somerset FAC applications
When there is a backlog renewals will always take priority over grants for obvious reasons. Which obviously compounds the issue for grants!bradaz11 wrote:yeah, they say that theres a backlog, but my renewal was done in time

Re: Somerset FAC applications
Cheekily I emailed the A&S team to see if there was a proposed date for the issue of my SGC. Had a very polite email back. Saying it takes as long as it takes but it had been approved.

Re: Somerset FAC applications
Update to the FAC situation in Somerset. I hadn't heard anything in over two months since applying so I emailed the Firearms team. They replied and said it is taking around 20 weeks for initial FAC grants in Somerset.
So I'm about halfway there!
