Forgive the observation, but the Viht powder, at least, is not very old at all.

Unless stored in such a way as to cause it to deteriorate, smokelss powder lasts for decades. I've personnaly used powders more than 20 years old with no issues at all.

To check for deterioration, simply lift off the cap, and smell it. If there is only a very mild smell, it is good powder; stuff that has "gone off" has a strong, acrid odour. Compare with a recent batch of the same powder if you are not sure.

If powder has gone off, use it as fertiliser -- a little goes a long way on your lawn.
