I’m thinking of getting a moderator for my son’s M&P 15-22. What are you getting Cutch?

Also, can anyone suggest the best way to get the muzzle break off without damaging the rifle?

I already have another 15/22 for myself and use a SAK moderator which seems to do ok. I was going to buy the same one but wanted to make sure it was 1/2 UNF.

Thanks Blackstuff, excuse the ignorance but is 1/2 x 28 the same as 1/2 UNF? Thats what seems to be on guntrader?

Any practical shotgun comps coming up in May? I havent been able to get to any yet....

M&P 15-22 thread is 1/2" x 28 UNEF, it has 28 threads per inch, so much finer than 1/" x 20 UNF which has 20 threads per inch.

ATEC Wave is an alternative to the ubiquitous SAK moderator, but is quieter and made of polymer, so lighter and slimmer too.

Just make sure you order your mod in 1/2 UNEF.

Barrel clamp and spanner is best way.

If you don't have any of that, then 25 round mag in the rifle, unloaded obv, hold the rifle between your legs and remove brake with a spanner.

Righty tighty, lefty loosey.

Thanks for the advice all. Strap wrench and clamp are now ordered.

Bam Bam. I was considering the A-Tec Wave, so glad you mentioned it. My daughter shoots the rifle too, so the lower weight is a bonus. The AR style stock on the 15-22 and light weight polymer are good for her.

Cutch, apologies for crashing your thread.
