Checked my serial number and my own rifle may have a potential issue they say.

mine too, however i'm wondering how we go about getting a gauge in the UK..

Not too worried as in 6000+ rounds I've never experienced this problem, but would be nice to get a gauge and check.

This being a safety issue, they really ought to be releasing the gauge thickness... It's not rocket science.

Mine falls within the serial number range.... well I say "mine", I sold it a few months back...

Likewise, I had put thousands through it. I had it five years and honestly would hav it tens of housands of rounds. Not once was there an issue.

But was there an "official" importer/distributor? I remember when they first came out there were a number of companies sourcing and selling them themselves.

Even though I'd agree the safety issue is probably a tiny risk, but not sure UK owners will be easily dealt with.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

It's been pointed out that as this is a headspace issue the proof house have tested each and every rifle that is sold in the UK.
If there was an issue it should have been addressed before it ended up in the buyer's hands.

lol lol lol lol

That assumes that the proof houses do their job as advertised.

If it was me I'd be onto S&W for one of their gauges as a start along with how I would get a replacement bolt if out of spec.

Trust to the proof house I would not. On the issue of proofing, technically it voids the warranty of US imported firearms as will the use of any over pressure, non factory round.

Thoughts of liability to clubs who allow them to be used on the ranges until checked?
