I could understand this degree of vagueness were .308W rifles in question, but there are only a finite number of .50cal weapon designs currently in circulation.
Why should the MoD do this?

If it becomes a onerous task for them they'll just ban it to save time and money. Getting the NRA to do it removes the problem from them.

John,

Was it a left handed action?
If it was it makes no difference whether he was left or right handed if his action was similarly 'handed' to the causes and the outcome.
If it was a RH action he would be lucky if he didn't lose half his face, but he may have been able to look in the chamber and see what the problem was before an accident occurred.

Interesting on the .50, but any info on the Krag?

Yes as timely a turnaround as the 50 incident on the conclusions of the Krag investigation would be good.

I'm still shooting my Krag, on non MoD ranges of course.

I'm still not totally convinced , do 50 cals have softer primers or something? I chambered a primed case and try as I might I couldn't get it to go off no matter how hard I slammed a dummy round into it? (308)

Is/was it down to the use of some very pointy monolithic bullets?

Is there any more information on the Krags? I have three of them (one of each type). Does anyone know if this ban applys if using cast bullets at velocities below 1600fps?

The shooter involved with the Krag is still suspended from shooting by his Club.

That's what five months now? What's taking so long?
