The accuracy surprised me but the cases were very dirty, which I didn't expect.
I use Magtech .45LC Cowboy Action ammo in my Uberti 1873, and the cases come out of that very dirty.

Dirty cases are pretty common with low pressure 'cowboy' loads.

I just started reloading .44 magnum with Trailboss powder. Shoots like a .44 special but with a case that matches the chamber length. It works well in my Rossi 92.

Nice looking Henry.

6.0gns of Unique, with a 240gn SWC, in a magnum case gas been my "special" load for for the 20years. Dirty cases, but one ragged hole at 25 yards....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

I'll look into trying that, thanks :good:

Until I compared a magnum case with an SPL case, I didn't realise they were a different length :o

I must admit to looking forward to trying a .44 Magnum load, but I can't see me using that on a regular basis.

I did buy the rifle because I am in the process of joining another club that shoots indoors at 25 yards..I don't have anything else that will do that atm

Full magnum out of the Henry indoors will be fun lol

One of our members has just bought a Chiappa 1892 Alaskan TD rifle in .44RM with 20" barrel, and brought it along to Melville at Bisley yesterday, for our club Carbine shoot, with a box of factory .44RM ammo (not .44SPL or Cowboy Action) it was err, quite lively outdoors lol so indoors will be interesting.
Will also be interesting how yours does with any .44spl compared to magnum, as my good friends .357 Henry doesn't seem to like 357 Mag ammo, or .38spl cowboy action loads, and he's settled on using straight .38spl loads.
