Nothing you can do and would probably be uneconomical to rebarrel. Why not get the barrel bored out smooth and you will have a very nice Tikka shot gun for crows.

And with a new barrel it will last a lot longer than I will !

Nothing to do with wear in my opinion, rather to do with that moderator being left on all the time.
The bore would then rust to buggery with the loose rust being carried off by either a bullet or by the first and only cleaning the bloke gave the night before he sold it on...
I bet if you pushed a soft lead slug through from the breech it would go loose as you got up near the muzzle.

I'm kinda shocked to read that 1000-1200 rounds is acceptable barrel life for a .243 :-( looking at my ticket I'm about 200 rounds from needing a new one! Is that really the time accuracy drops?
