Accuracy International .308 Barrel/fore grip question

#1 Post by Bolte »

So I have a muzzle brake(has NP stamped on it) and I am looking for a threaded cap to protect the end of the barrel for when I use the rifle without the brake. I can't shift the knurled end of the brake so it would just be easier to buy another. Anyone have any ideas?

I want to shoot from a standing position and have experimented and found that a grip under the barrel would help me. Has anyone used an angled fore grip on theirs and if so, any recommendations to mount it?

Is the thread to attach a moderator to the brake a left-hand thread? In which case you'd unscrew the knurled protector clockwise I think?

The bottom of the fire end is known as “Keymod”. There’s a number of fore grips available that will fit that particular fixing.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Additionally, you could get a keymod rail and attach any weaver/picatinny foregrip to the rail section.

As for the thread adapter. I got ovenpaa (David at shooting shed) to make a thread adapter for mine which covers the spigot fitting:

Might be worth having a chat with David see if he still has the drawings to make another?

The muzzle brake shown is the normal brake.
The tactical threaded brake looks very different onto which you can fit a moderator.
When I shoot without a brake, I am not that concerned about the exposed thread whilst shooting.
I put the brake back on when finished.
It isn’t not often it has come off for shooting. But really easy to put on / take off.

The thread on the end of the barrel is a normal RH thread if the picture is anything to go by, if the knurled protector on the brake is LH it won't fit the muzzle even if you do get it off.
