Tight shooting Wnichester 95

#1 Post by rufrdr »

Got to brag a bit about my range trip today...

Shooting the new production Winchester 95 in .30-06 with an added Providence Tool adjustable peep rear sight.

Final three rounds at 100 yds supported went to less than .75" measured from outside to outside of the two rounds the farthest apart.

Shooting FNB .30 ball, pretty accurate stuff but I didn't expect this! I quit shooting the rifle once I got this group. I think it was luck and certainly not skill on my part.

Very nice! Is this one of the Miroku made version? I’m currently weighing up the prospect of a Belgium made Browning version in .30-40 Krag thats currently sitting on a dealers shelf!

pe4king May be along about his turn of the 20th century 1895 in .303 Brit, soon...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Yes it is one of the Japan produced 95s. I once owned a Browning marked version in the mid 80s in .30-40 Krag, it was a great shooter. To the best of my knowledge the Browning marked guns were also made in Japan.

Very nice :good:

I'd love one of the original Russian contract rifles that were chambered in 7.62x54r and could be loaded with Mosin stripper clips but sadly they appear to be rare and expensive.

More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!
