Well, no problem in supplying your own blank to the gunsmith. However he may expect to make say £50 profit on the barrel plus his reaming and fitting charge so he may just add this amount to your bill. If you are getting the blank for free or cheap then worth doing. Cheapest blanks I know are Bergara at about £250 - for a 30 inch heavy profile. Lighter shorter barrels will be cheaper. Threading and reaming - £250 upwards plus proofing.

I've just taken my Mossberg MVP LC .308 down to David Crispin to get rebarreled...

Luckily he had what I wanted in stock, (so no 8-10 week wait for Sassen to make it), so it should be done in a month or so.
(Hes busy with Imperial stuff at the moment)

Border barrel, 24'', 1:12 twist, muzzle threaded for mod, £645 fitted and proofed.

If you get a problem when its done if the gunsmith supplies and fits then you have one port of call plus from his point of view if there is a problem with the blank his supplier will sort it out if he uses your blank what will your supplier say ?
