Having the ability to reach the target is one thing but actually hitting the intended target at extended range is another thing all together. 'Easy' is not a word that springs to mind!

It surprised me that it's chambered in 408 Cheytac, I'd have thought the Russians would have developed their own rather than go American!

I see the .408 Cheytac is it's self developed from the .505 Gibbs big game cartridge from 1911.

Just reading the Wikipedia blurb,

"The .505 Gibbs is a niche cartridge designed for hunting heavy, thick skinned dangerous game animals, such as cape buffalo, elephant, and rhino."

You would need a rather large pair to go after those animals. I've a photo of my scared looking grandmother in the back of a re-designed Landcrusier after they met a cape buffalo on safari many years ago!

Some Spetsnaz and FSB units use the AI AWM-F chambered in .338LM and have used them in counter-terrorist ops in Dagestan.The MVD and FSS also use the AI-AW in 7.62 NATO.

Russian units also uses the Steyr SSG-08 and the FSB Alpha Group use the 9mm H&K MP5A3, plus other "Western" weapons.Russian special forces and special purpose units have quite a bit of autonomy on what weapons they can select for use compared to their regular army counterparts.

I thought part of the idea was the Russian special forces would be behind enemy lines and reliant on using NATO ammo anyway. A bit like their aircraft having NATO refuelling points fitted as well as Warsaw Pact.
