Up periscope !

#1 Post by meles meles »

Well oomans, we shot at Kingsbury this morning and by 'eck, the weather was summat to behold ! Nigh on 1.5 inches of rain fell in 3 hours (Brummigan airport figures) - most of it right down our neck ! The silver lining to that particular dark cloud was that we were almost alone on the range and able to drop back to the 600 mard point. Using our 1916 Winchester P14, we popped 57 rounds down range and scored 33 V bulls, 11 common or garden bulls and the rest we prefer not to mention...

I do like the P14 rifle, it makes me wonder how one would go chambered in .303 EPPS.

EPPS ? Isn't that something to do with the shoulders being tweaked?

Elwood Epps designed an "improved" 303 by moving the case shoulders forward and changing the shoulder angle. This enlarges the case volume and basically allows higher velocities without increasing the pressure.

It sounds like the Badger family did very well, despite some very inclement weather. Great shooting! clapclap :shakeshout:

Some years ago I converted some shot out P14s to 300win mag using p17 barrels and re-chambering .Worked well ! Small mod to the floor plate of the mag so it would feed .

Ours is now barrelled in .308 with a very tight chamber and a POSP 8x42 scope sat on top. It's very good out to 600 mards.
