We only had two divisions, divided between bolt action rifles and semi autos, and it was all quite informal, but shooting a practical match with a Garand and a P38 was huge fun.
Sounds fab......especially for me, as one not having a huge interest in much post-45 firearms.

If only....... :cry:

For me any form of modern handguns would be brilliant to try. I've fired all sorts over the years but never a handgun.

Forgot to add, would love to try Practical shotgun but struggling to find something in a similar postcode at the moment.

I concur. Given that my local shooting club (i.e. 10 minute drive) used to shoot a lot of pistols in the indoor 25m range I would love to see handguns come back for this reason. They do turning targets for under lever / semi auto rimfires but I bet this would be great fun with handguns.

Under the category of 'something else' I'd like something along the lines of American 'plinking' for want of a better word. Shooting glass bottles, china, tin cans and basically destroying stuff for the wanton hell of it.

I maybe missing something blindingly obvious (wouldn't be the first time :D ) but having looked, but not found.......has anyone ever thought of staging Practical 'Carbine' comps.....?

Thinking you could do pretty much similar courses as the old Practical Pistol Comps, on the same ranges, just using 'carbine' leverguns instead....?

Having got my hands back on a .45 1911 again a few weeks ago on a visit over to Texas, I'd love to be able to have pistols back in the UK.......but am realistic to know that just isn't going to happen, not even just .22.

That's been going on in the UK since before the pistol ban, and more heavily after it. :good: The UKPSA (and I think F4i), have them regularly, was at one on Saturday.

Both are now staging 3 gun matches too (So an FAC shotgun, rifle of your choice - .22 semi, pistol caliber lever action, or SGC lever release, and either a .22 semi pistol or pistol caliber LBR)

This is the last one I did. (I don't have a pistol calibre lever gun or LBR anymore so was using a ..2 rifle and LBP, but you get the idea);

I have suitable guns for all the disciplines that interest me..... except centre-fire handguns :cry:

I used to shoot with handguns my Dad before the ban. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if we knew what was a bout to happen then I would have spent more time at the range with them.

I bought both my SigSauer 522 .22RF semi auto and my wonderful SGC LR 9mm knowing that they may be banned, but at least I have the chance to enjoy them .... for now :good:
