Difficult to push flannels through bore when cleaning

#1 Post by Rambles35 »

Am finding it really difficult to push flannel through the bore when cleaning.
Using a standard .308 jag on a .308 rifle
Using 009 cleaner
Using flannels for .27 rifle and .32 and .38 pistol.
Also using 4 by 2.
Any thoughts ?

Are you cutting the strips of 4 by 2 in half?

Too much flannel/patch round your jag, or jag too large for the chosen patches?

Use smaller patches (cut them down perhaps) or a smaller jag. You want a fairly tight fit but if it gets jammed that's too tight.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

Have you looked at the Proshot system? Correct size jag and patch for every calibre - you can't get it wrong.

another option is the paul clean system and associated roll patches, calibre specific jags and one size patch for all.

Ah yes - seen these Italian guys at IWA - good kit. Fox Firearms are also stocking it.

I use a 2x2 patch & a .270 jag for .308.

There's this cleaning system too, which I intend trying soon:
