Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Dogs and hot weather

#1 Post by Christel »

I know a lot of us have dogs, please make sure they are ok in this hot weather.

Cars/hot weather are killing dogs every year, it takes such little time for the car to heat up.

Making their paws wet cools the dog down if needed.

Even dogs need sun screen.

Roads and pavements are bound to be scorching, think of the dog's paws.

Please just keep out furry friends in mind when the weather is this hot.

Taken back in March at the Lincolnshire coast so nowhere near as warm as it is now. You do not have to go to the coast either - a kids pool in the garden will do.

My lab loves the water so walks always involve ponds or rivers.

I’m also amazed that both our dogs take themselves to the coolest area of the house during the heat, others don’t seem able to regulate.

They seem to find the cool solid floors in the house etc

Dogs are intelligent creatures, only problem is when they can't get out of a confined hot space...as per usual a man made problem.

Ours are the same, even the Lurcher loves the water.

Our black lab will sleep outside at night if it is too warm...can't allow that though considering the amount of money he has cost us :o
Oh and I absolutely love and adore our dogs so anyone who harms anyone of them are in for a tough time.
